Lately I'm on a history kick. Well, not a kick--that would
imply something far more light-hearted . . . But I've been reading
about Ancient Rome again, which is my favorite era. Good
mythology, gladiators, corruption, crazy violence . . . it all appeals
to me way more than the Renaissance or medieval period (even though I
like both of those). I really despise the Civil War, though--any era with bad clothes, ugly hats, and too much dust is not for me.
Okay, and two of the 3 books I'm
about to post are about Greece . . . but, whatever. Rome will
always be my first love, so it gets top billing.

And if you really like Rome, I, Claudius is like crack. I think
there's a pervy movie version, but don't let that keep you from reading
it.
